Hello, my name is Elliz! I share all your favourite Malaysian food but vegan!
When I started eating a plant based diet in 2018, I couldn't find many kampung (village) Malaysian plant based recipes so I had to develop my own by experimenting with different ingredients. I started this journey to share my knowledge with you so you can continue having Malaysian comfort food without compromising on flavour!
My Tok Mah (grandmother) is the biggest influence on my taste of food and cooking style. I have so many childhood memories of Tok Mah's Perlis influenced cooking. From roti nyok breakfasts, cekodok pisang for tea and kari for dinner. These recipes have all been passed down to my mum and me.

Creamy Dreamy Mango Dessert Recipe 🥭 Bouncy Sago Pearls | Dairy Free & Vegan

Mango Sago
Serves 4
2 - 3 large ripe mangoes
200ml coconut cream
1/4 cup or 50g sugar
1 cup or 250ml water
1 pandan leaf
1 cup or 150g sago pearls
8 cups or 2 litres of water
🔸Boil water, sugar and pandan leaf until fragrant and the sugar has dissolved. Infuse the pandan for longer for a stronger flavour. Set aside to cool.
🔸Cube half the mangoes, add the other half into blender with coconut cream and cooled sugar water.
🔸Once blended smooth, pour in a bowl and stir the cubed mangoes.
🔸Chill in the fridge for a few hours.
🔸Boil water in a large pot. Once boiling, lower to a gentle simmer and add the sago pearls.
🔸Stir immediately and cook for 10 mins. Then turn off the heat, cover the pot and leave to sit for 10 mins.
🔸Drain the sago and rinse with water.
🔸Store in cold water in the fridge until ready to serve.
🔸Mix the cream and sago together and serve. Or layer into a glass and top with more mango.
Dalam Bahasa Malaysia 🇲🇾
2 - 3 biji mangga
200ml santan pekat
1/4 cawan atau 50g gula
1 cawan atau 250ml air
1 helai daun pandan
1 cawan atau 150g biji sagu
8 cawan atau 2 liter air
🔸Didihkan air, gula dan daun pandan hingga naik bau dan gula larut. Biar sejuk.
🔸Potong dadu separuh buah mangga, dan masukkan separuh lagi ke dalam pengisar bersama krim kelapa dan air gula yang telah disejukkan.
🔸Tuangkan krim ke dalam mangkuk dan kacau mangga yang dipotong dadu.
🔸Sejukkan dalam peti ais selama beberapa jam.
🔸Untuk sagu, masak air dalam periuk besar. Setelah mendidih, kecilkan api dan masukkan biji sagu.
🔸Kacau segera dan masak selama 10 minit. Kemudian tutup api, tutup periuk dan biarkan selama 10 minit.
🔸Toskan sagu dan bilas dengan air.
🔸Simpan dalam air sejuk di dalam peti ais sehingga sedia untuk dihidangkan.
🔸Campurkan krim dan sagu bersama dan hidangkan. Atau lapiskan ke dalam gelas dan hiaskan dengan mangga.

Mango Sago

Nice video, thanks. Question : you don't like using single use plastic. Why do you even make it in plastic ? Couldn't it work in some better quality material, like glass Tupperware with a lid with holes ? Why do you still choose the plastic bag, is there some quality reason I don't understand maybe, or is it just easier ? Thanks !

Also, what kind of rice is it that you’re using? Are those kafir lime leaves/trees indigenous to your country (which I assume is Malaysia)? 😊🙏 Glad they offer Vegan Satay! Vegan dishes are even cleaner to consume than Halal foods as Vegan dishes have Zero Meat in them ... But still must observed general Safe Food Preparation , Handling & Holding of Vegan Dishes to avoid bacteria from multiplying in these humid tropical climate! 😊🙏

Hi, yes you can use banana or strawberries. For strawberries I'll consider removing the pandan leaf and sub with vanilla extract/paste instead 😊
